Lyra plays devotional recordings that are free to listen to — public domain and Creative Commons material from the Internet Archive. Film songs and major-label albums are not licensed to it and will not appear. Try searching by deity, by form (bhajan, aarti, kirtan), or by a well-known title such as Hanuman Chalisa.
Lyrics come from a public database first. If a recording isn't in it, Lyra transcribes the audio, which takes twenty to forty seconds the first time and is then cached. Purely instrumental recordings show "Instrumental" — there is nothing to write down.
Transcribed lyrics are produced by a machine listening to the recording. Older or noisier tapes transcribe less well. Treat them as a guide.
It shouldn't — Lyra plays in the background and shows on the lock screen. If it stops, check iOS Settings → Lyra and make sure Background App Refresh is on.
Library → Settings → Account → Delete account. Or email us and we'll do it.
Lyra streams from the Internet Archive and filters to items declaring a Creative Commons licence or public-domain status. That licence is declared by whoever uploaded the recording, so material may occasionally appear that the rights holder did not intend to release.
If you hold rights to a recording listed in Lyra and want it removed, email hey@binski.in with the recording's title and the screen you saw it on. We will remove it promptly, and you do not need to prove ownership beyond a good-faith statement.
